Sox getting commitments

The Georgia Sox are busy gathering their squad for the 2010 summer season.  The squad is picking up players from NW Atlanta, who are interested in playing in the July 17u Perfect Game along with other local tournaments.  To date, the Sox have 9 commitments and are looking to add 5-6 more players before the summer begins!

Sox win Rumble by the River

The Georgia Sox closed out the 2009 summer by going 4-o in the Rumble by the River tourney in Rome!  The squad had to defeat a tough Cartersville Cane’s team twice to capture the victory!  Lucas Brown went 6 1/3 innings in the championship game to get the victory  and Clate Schmidt came on to get the save and finish up the summer of 2009!  Great job Sox!

Georgia Sox win two

After finishing the Perfect Game with a 4-0 win, the Sox continued their winning ways by beating the Northwest Titans 8-3.  David Collins picked up his 2nd win of the week going the distance and Max Mason & Robert Daly both went deep with homeruns to lead the Sox offense.

The Sox got some lunch and then came back to Rome’s Legion Field to secure a 11-0 win over a squad from Rome.  Wes Williams threw a shutout on the hill and the defense was solid behind him.  

Sunday will find the Sox matching up with the Cartersville Canes in a pool play game at 12noon and then matching up with the Canes in the championship game at 4pm.  This game will wrap up the Sox summer season!

Week Ahead

The Georgia Sox will close out the Perfect Game tourney on Sunday and have an exciting week ahead as they wrap up their 2009 summer.

Sox take on Phillies

The Georgia Sox will stay close to home as they take on the C.R.B.A. Phillies from Longview, TX at Sprayberry High School @9am.  The Sox battled a tough Cyclones baseball team on Thursday and came up short 3-1.  Clate Schmidt went the distance on the mound and only a 3 run second inning by the Cyclones was the difference in the contest.  The Sox had a few chances to put runs on the scoreboard but the Cyclones kept them at bay.

Saturday will find the squad traveling back to Sequoyah High School for a 4:30pm contest against the 16u East Cobb Titans.

Perfect Game update

The Georgia Sox will go into their Thursday contest against Cyclone Baseball 0-1-1.  The squad dropped game one on Tuesday at Fellowship Christian School 2-1.  The Sox battled back to tie the game in the top of the 6th but “The Naturals” out of Gainesville, FL pushed across one run in the bottom of the frame to squeeze out a 2-1 victory.  The Sox got strong pitching from Wes Williams & Lucas Brown.

The team returned to action on Wednesday at North Cobb Christian against the Rebels from SE Michigan.  The Sox returned the favor of the late inning comeback and used one of their own to come back and tie the game in the last inning.  The Sox offense was powered by 2 long solo homeruns by Max Mason and Avery Cross laced a single to drive across the tying run (6-6).

Thursday will find the team traveling to Sequoyah High School for an 11:30am contest against the Cyclones.

Perfect Game gets underway

The Georgia Sox will travel to Roswell to Fellowship Christian School to battle against (The Naturals).  The game will take place at 2pm.  For more information, please visit the Perfect Game page to see full week schedule!

Sox fall again to Dodgers

The Georgia Sox came up just short in the AABC semi-final match against the West Cobb Dodgers.  The Dodgers stormed back in the bottom of the sixth to put up 5 runs to secure a 6-4 victory.  The Sox got 2 runs in the top of the 1st and then picked up 2 more in the top of the 6th behind a 2 run homer by Avery Cross.

The squad will return to action in the Perfect Game tourney at 2pm on Tuesday.

Sox takeout Wolverines

Fayetteville, GA

The Georgia Sox took the diamond and the bats came alive and the squad walked away with 16-0 4 inning victory over the Wolverines.  Great pitching, solid defense and some hot bats were the keys to the victory.  Wade Marcy capped the night with a towering homerun to left field.

The squad will return to action on Saturday against the West Cobb Dodgers at 9am.  The winner of the game will advance to the championship round which begins at 1pm and is a 2 out of 3 series.

Sox return to action

Friday night will find the Sox returning to action in AABC bracket play against the Wolverines at 6pm. The game will take place at Fayette County High School on Tiger Field.
